Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station Review

Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station is a budget friendly hotel.

The Doubletree is a conveniently located business hotel in central Amsterdam. Having stayed at many luxury hotels during our whirlwind Europe trip, the Doubletree felt a little sterile but the very affordable price tag made up for it. In terms of the lodgings, the room itself was very basic and felt like a business hotel, with the bare amenities. The room was a decent size and was comfortable but unfortunately the cleaning standards were not as satisfactory as we’d hoped. On the first day of our stay, we begun to feel itchy and located a few hairs in the carpet that appeared to be dog hairs. As this is a pet friendly hotel, even citing a pet menu, we feel that their cleaning procedures should be more stringent, or they could even limit the rooms provided to pet owners. On the days following this, the discomfort went away as the room was cleaned numerous times and therefore the situation was rectified. Other than this, the room was very functional and suited our needs. Plus the city view rooms have amazing views of Amsterdam and are worth the small fee to upgrade.
During our stay we were also fortunate enough to experience the executive lounge. The lounge provides a continental breakfast, snacks throughout the day, and canapés and alcoholic beverages at night. We found the executive option to be a very cost effective plan, as you can save a lot of money on meals by eating in the lounge.
The other plus side of the Doubletree is the great location, especially if you are using a rail pass to get around, as it is only a few steps away from Centraal Station. It is also very close to the Nemo and is an easy 10 to 15 minute walk into the city centre and the main eating districts. For added value, use an Iamsterdam city card to get around and receive exclusive access and discounts to Amsterdam attractions. Alternatively, take advantage of the hotel’s bicycle hire program to explore the city like the locals. Overall, the location and affordability makes it a perfect choice for business and leisure travellers.

UPDATE: We had the pleasure of staying here again in May 2015 and had the perfect stay. The cleanliness was impeccable and we highly recommend the balcony room we had.
