Fun on The Farm at Byron Bay

Get out of the city (1)

Wanderlust Chronicles itinerary for visiting The Farm at Byron Bay.

LOCATIONBYRON

Sometimes you just have to leave it all behind and get out of the city. And the perfect place to do that for us Brisbanites, is the new hot spot, The Farm at Byron Bay. With fun activities for all age groups, and in a refreshing rural farm setting, The Farm is quickly becoming a local favourite. And as we loved our recent visit so much, we decided to put together a half-day itinerary of must-dos for your next visit to The Farm!
Head to the Bakery
Get in early and head straight for the bakery to secure some to die for donuts. Trust us, we made the mistake of waiting until after lunch to get some during our visit and we missed out!
Explore The Farm
With donuts in hand, make your way around the farm, starting with the pig pen and walking in a clockwise direction to end up back at the main building. Don’t forget to make pit stops at the chicken caravan, orchard, horse paddock, and vegetable farm.
Feed your Hunger
By now you should have worked up an appetite, so head inside to secure a table at The Farm’s amazing restaurant, Three Blue Ducks. If you are a bit stretched for time, drop by on the weekend to sample their equally amazing seasonal BBQ. On these days they create a takeaway lunch made from meats and vegetables that are all grown on the farm and is a true farm to table (or hand, as we should say) experience.
Play in the Hay
After lunch, let the kids, and yourself, roam around the farm to play in the hay at the Farm House or on the traditional wooden playground, and to let loose from the week’s troubles.
Retail Therapy
Before you leave, make sure to stop by the “supermarket” in the main hall to purchase locally sourced ingredients for your home. As avid lovers of almond milk, our pick is the Bangalow Road Organic Almond Milk.  Or if you are in search of our other love, fresh flowers, then a stop at the florist on your way home is another must!
Want to make a day of it?
Drive for another 30 minutes into the centre of Byron Bay for some more retail therapy. Alternatively, head to one of Byron’s amazingly pristine beaches for an afternoon swim. Is sightseeing more your thing? Then drive up to the Byron Bay Lighthouse for stunning views over Byron and out to the ocean. If you’re lucky, in winter, you might even see the migrating whales up close!
