Wanderlust Chronicles review of the Hawaiian Airlines Extra Comfort Class
What if we told you that you could upgrade to premium economy style seating for only $100 for a 9-hour flight? Aussies all around the world are rejoicing at this fact because being down under means that exploring much of the world is always a long-haul flight away, so a little comfort goes a long way. That’s why one our recent trip to Hawaii we had to experience the Extra Comfort seats for our readers to give you the low down on all that it has to offer and to see if it is really worth the investment!
As far as upgrade costs go, $100 for an upgrade to premium economy is super cheap! But what exactly do you get in return for your bright green $100 bill? Well, on our flight from Honolulu to Brisbane, we experienced the extra comfort class and were pleasantly surprised. We were treated to a significant increase in legroom, five inches to be exact, and chose the row right before the toilets (I can hear everyone groaning that they hate this seat) but we felt that it allowed us to recline our seats without experiencing traveller’s guilt for reclining into the person behind us, giving us even more room! As well as this, we each had personal electrical power outlets, a complimentary and unlimited entertainment pack, pillows and blankets, a comfort kit, and a special meal, different to that of those in economy class. On top of this, having your own private cabin that you share with the business class passengers makes the journey a lot more serene and calm than the economy class in the back. We got off the flight feeling very satisfied for the value of the upgrade cost and happy with the Hawaiian Airlines service. We would definitely fly with them again and as our trip to Hawaii was so short and we are already itching to get back, know that we will be flying with Hawaiian Airlines again soon!

I’m really regretting choosing Jetstar for my flight to Hawaii in January after reading this…

Haha don’t worry, the journey is only one part of the adventure so you have the whole of Hawaii to be excited for. No regrets Elle xx
You’re totally right. Did you two only visit the Oahu?

We went to Maui too and loved it so much. Maybe even more than Oahu. We didn’t get time to blog much but we stayed at this amazing resort http://www.wanderlustchronicles.com.au/andazmaui/.
It sounds like you chose Row 13 Extra Comfort seats. I was wondering, with the restrooms right behind you, do you still have the same amount of recline as the other extra comfort rows in front of you? Is there extra storage beneath your own seat? Row 11 seems to have the most legroom but the tray between the seats is annoying especially if my son wants to rest his head on me. We’re booked on a 10+ hour flight from Hawaii to Tokyo and debating on what extra comfort row to choose. Thanks!
Hi Phillip. As best we remember, we had the same recline as the other seats but no storage underneath, only storage in front. We agree about the front row seats, they always limit the seat width as well. If you are still worried, row 12 may be your best bet. Hope this helps.
