We believe that you don’t need to buy your followers to increase your Instagram influence. In fact, buying followers will lower your engagement in the long run, but that’s for another blog post. Today we are going to talk about the Instagram Engagement Method which will see you increase your followers in just 15 minutes a day. The Engagement Method is rarely talked about but is the most effective tool for increasing your followers based on the current Instagram algorithm.
The Instagram Engagement Method is based on reciprocity. Sort of like an Instagram karma. For what you give, you will receive in return.
Begin by searching hashtags or users related to your Instagram niche. For example, if you are a cafe, search for foodie hashtags and popular food Instagrammers in your area.
After you have found the perfect hashtag, simply begin to like all the photos that you can for 15 minutes. If you have a bit more time, click through to that person’s Instagram feed and like 4 or 5 of their most recent photos.
Alternatively, after you have found the perfect Instagrammer, simply like 4 or 5 of their most recent photos. Then head on over to their followers section and one by one click on their followers’ feeds and like 4 or 5 of their followers’ most recent photos for a total of 15 minutes.
If you have more time dedicated to this process, repeat the liking process 3 or 4 times a day.
The engagement process allows other Instagram accounts, who would otherwise not notice your account because of the Instagram algorithm changes, to see notifications that you liked their photos. And most times people will check out your Instagram account from this interaction and will either like your photos or follow you too.
Tip // Try to like accounts with a small number of followers or likes on their photos. This gives you a better chance of being noticed, as big accounts get so many notifications that your few likes will most likely be overlooked.
Content Tip // Sometimes you are just as good as your content. And while going out and buying thousands of dollars worth of equipment isn’t the answer, there are easy ways to make your content standout. Firstly, lighting. Make sure to always get the best lighting. Any photography equipment whether it be a DSLR or your mobile phone can capture great shots if you are shooting in natural lighting. This is as simple as sitting at the table outside or by the window during brunch to capture the best natural lighting. Or taking all of your photos during the day or during Golden Hour. Secondly, research your spots before you take the effort to go shoot. Celebrity’s comment feeds are no longer in chronological order when you view them so the Lb hack below is not as effective anymore. Therefore, our new growth hack is to join Engagement Groups like our new Under 10K Travel Bloggers Group and find like-minded bloggers who you can interact and collaborate with. Everything from reciprocal comments to saves on your Instagram photos are all great ways to growth hack.
Old method – Have you ever been casually admiring the lives of the KarJenners on Instagram and been confused by the thousands of tweens commenting ‘Lb’ on all of their posts? Well, this secret teen lingo is a code that Instagram Growth Hackers are utilising in 2018. Lb simply means like back. Therefore, if you like one of those commenters posts, they will reciprocate, and like one of your posts back. This is a simple way to boost engagement on your posts. Now, to get a bit more technical, Instagram’s new algorithm looks for recent posts with high levels of engagement and places them higher in your followers’ feeds. So, the best way to utilise this growth hack is to like a lot of the Lb commenters’ photos right after posting a photo on your feed.
