The best places to take Instagram pics in Bali, Indonesia
Bali has no shortage of Instagram worthy locations to up your ‘gram game this year. From bright colourful cafes, perfect for that Bali #foodporn pic, to white sand and blue water beaches, perfect for that envy inducing vacation pic, Bali has it all for the avid Instagrammer. Throw in a great shot with the perfect caption for Instagram and you have yourself the ultimate Instagram vacay feed. Here is our list of top 20 Bali Instagram locations that you need to visit at least once in your lifetime:
Potato Head Bali
Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak has it all. True to its slogan, Potato Head is the mecca of tropical modernism. Their Instagram options are endless with an infinity pool overlooking the beach at their beach club, a cute picnic area where you can sip on Tiki themed cocktails, a modern restaurant with delicious meals, and some cool events to get you in vacation mode.
Gili Trawangan Swing
This cute swing can be found in the water at Gili Trawangan. It is the perfect location for a #couplegoals Instagram or a loved up bestie shot too. Our fave time to visit is at sunset when the vivid colours of the sky make for a great shot. If you have trouble finding the swing just Google The Swing Ombak Sunset.
Rock Bar Bali
If you are an Instagrammer then I am positive you have come across a photo of this Instafamous bar at least once in your discover feed. Perched high up on the rock formations overlooking the Jimbaran coastline, The Rock Bar Bali at Ayana Resort is THE quintessential Bali Instagram shot. Whether you are perched up high to snap a shot of the bar in all its glory or you are taking a cheeky snap of your cocktail with the beach as your background, The Rock Bar Bali makes for a perfect Instagram moment.
Ubud
Most specifically the Tegalalang Rice Terraces at Ubud. This UNESCO heritage listed site (well the irrigation system used in UNESCO listed) is a must-see for every Bali first-timer. There are many vantage points along the way and there’s just something about the symmetry of the rice paddies that make this area so aesthetically pleasing on your Instagram.
La Plancha Bali
This beachside Spanish tapas restaurant in Seminyak is famous for its brightly coloured beach umbrellas that make for a great Bali Instagram shot. Mixing up the colours with some of the best Spanish food and cocktails that the island has to offer and you have yourself the perfect vacation Insta.
Nusa Lembongan
The beaches at Nusa Lembongan are some of the most beautiful in the world. We love this shot because it shows off an example of the perfect way to announce your engagement on Instagram. A beach and a diamond, what more could a girl need?
Sea Circus Bali
Ok, now the coffee lover in me is crazy about this one. Serving up amazing coffee is not all that Sea Circus Bali does. They include cute Buddha quotes with their coffees, feature colourful murals all around the cafe, and serve up #foodporn worthy meals, all of which leaves you with a hundred different Instagram options.
Tegenungan Waterfall
Bali is famous for its pristine nature. And this waterfall is among one of its most popular natural attractions. The Tegenungan waterfall can be found in Lombok and as you can see from the shot above, it makes a perfect backdrop for a couple shot or even a cheeky bikini Insta.
Uluwatu Temple Sunset
This temple is home to Bali’s most famous sunset destination. Uluwatu temple is known as one of the six key temples in Bali’s spiritual pillars and has a great vantage point for viewing Bali’s famous sunset, making it one of the most visited places in Bali.
Love Bali Sign
Along the road in Tegalalang in Ubud you will find this Love Bali sign where many tourists have snapped a quick pic for the ‘gram. Profess your love to Bali by joining the squad and adding this shot to your feed.
Nusa Penida Island
If the photo above isn’t enough to convince you to visit Nusa Penida, then I don’t know what else could. With so many stunning rock formations dotting the beaches of this island, this is the perfect place to take your Bali Instagram shots to the next level. Make sure to get snaps of Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong (which is actually featured later on in this list).
Monkey Forest Ubud
So if you are braver than I am you can get a great shot WITH one of the monkeys attached to your body at some place. If you are not brave, like me, then you can get a pic OF the monkeys, like the one I took above. Either way, a trip to Bali without an Instagram of The Monkey Forest in Ubud is not really a trip to Bali, so make your choice.
The Beach Woods – Nusa Ceningan Island
This Airbnb at Nusa Ceningan Island has to be one of the most perfect Airbnbs we have ever found. This traditional Balinese house is perched in the trees overlooking the beach and features a private infinity pool, an unbeatable location, enough room for large groups, and that Instaworthy hammock in the ocean (as can be seen in the Insta above).
Bali Swing
A shot of the Instafamous Bali swing in Ubud is perfect to trick your friends into thinking that you were brave enough to swing over a cliff’s edge. But don’t worry and go check out some of the BTS videos of how to get this great Instagram shot and you will see that it is not as scary as it looks.
Nusa Dua
This upscale area of Bali’s main island is home to some of the most beautiful beach on the main island as well as many of the island’s most luxurious resorts. Check out some of the public beaches to snap a shot of the beautiful blue ocean that can be found here.
Kynd Bali
Kynd is a plant-based eatery in Seminyak that serves us vegan desserts and meals all while keeping it cool with its bright pink interior. All their meals are Instaworthy and their interior is perfect for any Instagram aesthetic.
Lake Batur, Kintamani
As you know Bali has an active volcano. But this destructive natural structure is also home to a beautiful crater lake, Lake Batur. This resort is famous for its infinity pool that overlooks Kintamani.
Elephant Cave Temple
If you want to get creative with your photography for your Bali Instagram series, then a visit to The Elephant Cave Temple is a good addition to your itinerary. Here you can take some great snaps of Bali’s traditions and the rock carvings are great for practicing your photography skills.
Klui Beach Lombok
A stop at this resort is perfect if you want to capture a great beach shot or stunning sunset without fighting the crowds. This secluded resort destination allows you to take your perfect Bali Instagram shots in a more peaceful area.
Angel’s Billabong
This natural treasure is one of my favourite Bali Instagram locations on this list. Found in Nusa Penida, this waterhole is the perfect place to take an Instaworthy shot. Make sure to be cautious when the tide is high. No Instagram shot is worth risking your life.

So this one is not a location but a great tropical breakfast poolside shot is the perfect vacation Insta to include in your feed. It involves minimal travel and is within every traveller’s budget so this one is a winner for every avid Instagrammer.
